Privacy Policy
How Trakli collects, uses, and protects your data.
Trakli is an open-source personal finance app built by Whilesmart. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Trakli website, the hosted Trakli service, and the Trakli mobile apps, and how we use it.
If you self-host Trakli, your data stays on infrastructure you control, and this policy does not apply to that instance.
What we collect
Account information. When you register, we store your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password.
Financial records. The transactions, accounts, categories, and budgets you enter are stored so the app can work and sync across your devices.
Technical data. Our servers process your IP address, browser or device type, and similar technical details as part of serving your requests.
Preferences. The website stores your language preference in a small cookie. It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: storing your records and syncing them across your devices.
- To respond when you contact us at support@trakli.app.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
AI features
When you use the AI assistant, the records needed to answer your request are processed by the AI provider configured for your account, solely to generate that response. On plans that support your own provider keys, those requests go directly to your provider under your own agreement. Self-hosted instances use whatever provider the operator configures.
Where your data lives
In the mobile apps, your records are stored on your device and synced to your account when you use the hosted service. Hosted accounts are stored on servers run by our hosting providers.
Who we share your data with
We share data only with the service providers that run Trakli, such as hosting and email delivery, and only as much as they need to operate. We may also disclose data where the law requires it. Beyond that, your data is not shared, sold, or rented.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data, except for copies held in backups, which are removed on their normal rotation.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@trakli.app. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Security
We protect data in transit with encryption and store passwords only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the service and your data protected.
Children
Trakli is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date below.
